Pulpo á galega →
After eating some octopus on challah bread with Tamara this morning, and discussing a  hypothetical (we broke) trip to the north of Spain, real Pulpo á galega is all I can think about. Also known as  Polbo á feira, this dish is a traditional Galician dish from the motherland. Maybe it’s weird for me to be writing this but all motherlands are basically the same if your growing up your parents...

starving in midtown
i just started a new job in midtown and i’m starving!  my first day began with a (pretty delicious) steamed roast pork bun but that’s about as far as it got.  should i have eaten wendy’s?  probably - a junior bacon cheeseburger is always an intestinal adventure.  or grab a nosh at one of the many ‘gourmet deli’ establishments, with those curious salad buffets?  surely...

WatchWatch
America is truly the land of opportunity and the streets are paved with gold and all that other stuff they told me when I got here. Three 6 Mafia. Vincent Pastore. Sex, drugs, chicken paillard. “Hello, I’m Italian.” I hope this restaurant is called Ketchup. Don’t contact me for the next few months, I’m busy watching this in a garbage can.

Daydreams from an involuntary hiatus
I’m sure you’ve noticed that we have not really been updating because you are a weirdly devoted reader. Thanks, we appreciate it. I’ve been too broke and busy to eat anything delicious. I think Tamara might be off eating ostrich meat somewhere but not this guy. This is not to say that I haven’t been thinking about eating lobster every single day of my fucking life.  To say...

SANDWICH THROWDOWN - ROUND DOS
aightaightaight!  gallitzer, pon sus puños - peleamos!  this is a hoops-off kinda sandwich throwdown, ya feel me?  IT’S ON. ONE.   you’re looking at duck, pork, and chicken sausage from trois petit cochons.  grilled with honey bbq sauce from this dude and some amaranth garlic salt.  fontina, ranch dressing, baby spinach, campari tomatos, and a sliver of feta for good luck on...

Sandwich Throwdown
Intimidating dancer, fantastic hostess and love of our lives Gwynn Galitzer thinks you’re a punk. I am inclined to agree. More from her below (by the way, I just ate a big apple and pretended it was this sandwich.): So Sandwich Throwdown 2011 hasn’t been the take off success that I naturally assumed it would be.  Maybe I intimated everyone with the genius of my first sandwich, totally...

What's Really Cooking? YOU tell US!
Ever since I was a child, Easter was a strangely big holiday in my house… in a very secular way. My parents were firm believers in excessive amounts of candy/whacky pastel dyed eggs. Now at the awld-as-fuck age of 25, my folks have updated the tradition in a fantastic new way. Knowing their son to be an aspiring foodie, they bought me a handful of snazzy cooking items that I wouldn’t...

Blini, Caviar
Feelings. Failed communism makes an Eastern European heritage so off-kilter it verges on pitiful.  I will run from my odiferous, fishy ancestry for the rest of my life. But it will find me on hungover mornings, when I wake up inexplicably craving crepes with caviar. I miss my grandma you guysss. What’s your yucky comfort food?
