sometimes, when you’re in your twenties, you decide that going to bed at eighty-thirty every week night is too depressing and you invite yelena over on a tuesday and she says she is going to make some unpronounceable drink using only blueberries, limes, clear rum, and brown sugar. cool! smush the ingredients together with a grandmother’s wooden spoon and drink up (quickly). if a grandmother did not give you a wooden spoon for your kitchen, you cannot make this. this is a critical part of the recipe.
so, we found our new summer drink! potentially replacing our ever-popular inventions, the shlomie and coco rum with tampico. i’m pretty sure yelena will make pitchers of this new hotness in return for letting us hang out in your backyard for a really long time. i didn’t eat the fruit at the bottom because i’m still coming to terms with any fruit that isn’t a granny smith apple. sorry.
by the way, check out the official what’s-really-food office space in the photoset! that’s absolutely not the roof of my apartment building. it’s very official, okay??

Summer food it’s summer food!
Tamara sort of blew up my drink recipe but I will forgive her for this because: a. it is her birthday and b. on this night she forewent all hatred of vegetables to feed me.
So let me just say that this drink, which is called a Caipirinha, is strong as fuck. It is straight rum. Add ice to the recipe above because otherwise you will die of alcohol poisoning. Some bars charge $11 dollars for this cocktail (no, I am not serious when I refer to this as a cocktail) but now you can get wasted in style for approximately $1. You’re welcome, Carrie Bradshaws of this putrid city.
The salad is yellow zucchini, snap peas, lettuce, heirloom tomatoes, and a granny smith apple, grilled tofu with rosemary & raspberry balsamic vinaigrette. This salad is a true testament to our friendship because Tamara said, “It is not a hamburger.”
In conclusion, we (I) got drunk and ate this shit on a roof on the one day it was warm outside because global warming is making the weather alarmingly volatile and now it’s been raining for three weeks so that’s scary, right? If you want to be friends, let us know and we can probably do this again sometime. Also, the cheese was good.
